Sirsa

The name of the district Sirsa is derived from its headquarters, Sirsa. It is said to be one of the oldest places of North India and its ancient name was Sairishaka, which finds mention in 'Mahabharata', Panini's 'Ashatadhayayi' and 'Divyavadan'.
