History:

Rao Bika, a Rajput ruler and the son of Rao Jodha, the man who founded Jodhpur, founded Bikaner in 1488 AD as a strategically important outpost along the old trade route that connected Gujarat and Central Asia.

The city prospered for centuries under the leadership of several Rajput kingdoms, most notably the Mughals and the Rathores, who made a lasting impression on the city’s architecture and culture.
